For the past decade, unboxing videos on social media platforms have snowballed. People can’t help but immerse themselves in watching these highly engaging videos for entertainment and educational purposes.

Today, many content creators and everyday consumers create genuine unboxing videos and product reviews on social media platforms like Youtube as a form of income. But how did this phenomenon become so crucial in affecting a customer’s purchase decisions? To get that answer, we must first ask ourselves: what is an unboxing video?

Defining the Unboxing Video

Unboxing or unpacking is an internet phenomenon of capturing the opening process of products through photos or videos. These products can be anything from anywhere, but the most popular industries that currently benefit the most from these videos are:

  • Tech
  • Kids Toys
  • Fashion
  • Beauty
  • Mystery Boxes
  • Fitness Supplements

In fact, a study done by Google showed 1 in 5 consumers had watched an unboxing video, and 62% of these people do so when researching a particular product. The statistics don’t lie when revealing that unboxing videos have become more than just a trend but a growing phenomenon, with millions of views and thousands of videos uploaded yearly.

Don’t believe us? Below are some popular unboxing and review channels with relevant metrics retrieved from SocialBlade and one of the best unboxing videos on each channel. And though these videos are a few years old, these influencers still consistently receive millions of views for each new video they upload!

Unbox Therapy with 19.5 million subscribers and over 4.5 billion video views.

Marques Brownlee with 16.9 million subscribers and over 3.5 billion video views.

iJustine with 7 million subscribers and over 1.4 billion video views.

But Why Are Unboxing Videos Popular?

Why are we so intrigued by these videos that continue to capture hours of our attention? What makes these unpacking videos and reviews such great content to watch?

Firstly, it’s our inherent curiosity. The build-up of excitement for a new product drives the popularity of unboxing videos. Consumers always look forward to the next best things, like new technologies, designs, and other products and want to know whether or not the latest things will be worth their money. This curiosity and anticipation build up to the next reason.

The big reveal, or the unboxing experience, allows brands to show off all their hard work. Think of all the time and money spent on developing the product, designing the packaging, strategizing the marketing campaigns, and more. All of that bears fruit during the unboxing experience.

Finally, there’s nothing like seeing authentic reviews and reactions toward a product. The content creators reviewing the products have already established a strong trust with their online community, so It’s a massive advantage if influencers have nothing but great things to say about your brand because their viewers will remember this.

When searching for a new smartphone or restaurant to try out, it is much easier to learn through other people’s experiences by reading or watching reviews online.

How Do Unboxing Videos Benefit A Business

So now that you know what unboxing videos are and how popular they can be with consumers, how do they benefit a business? Let’s take a look.

1. Brand Awareness

YouTube has over 2.5 billion active users worldwide each month, with 62% of internet users in the U.S. accessing the website daily.

Creating an unboxing video or working with influencers and content creators will generate brand awareness. Each video can reach hundreds, thousands, or even millions of viewers daily. The beauty of the digital atmosphere is that anyone from anywhere in the world can access these videos instantly, giving your brand massive reach!

So if viewers see other people or their favorite influencer enjoying your product, it increases their chances of purchasing it too, hence why affiliate marketing is a huge revenue driver for these influencers! Their reviews help to validate the viewer’s decision-making process before finalizing purchases, especially for high-end products, while also benefiting the content creator in a win-win scenario.

2. Develops and Strengthens Consumer Relations

When you take the time to invest in creating the ultimate unboxing experience, it develops and strengthens the consumer relationship. If someone receives positive feedback about your product through an unboxing video, it will automatically intrigue them. Aside from wanting to get their hands on your fantastic product, they want to experience the same unpacking phenomenon that their favorite content creators feel.

3. Leaves Valuable Impressions on Your Brand

By exceeding consumer expectations and keeping them connected, you deliver a good impression that will go a long way. A good impression embeds a positive mark on someone’s attitude towards your brand and products, motivating them to share with their friends, family, and online community. If you really enjoy a product, wouldn’t you want to share it too?

4. Encourages Consumers to Repurchase

After developing brand loyalty through unboxing videos, it encourages consumers to repurchase from you again. It works like a domino effect because your brand exposure grows as the content creator grows, and interest in your other products will soon come with it.

You may not realize it, but your brand and content creators work together to drive business for one another. Viewers can become your customers, just like customers can become influencers’ viewers. Again, it’s a win-win scenario for businesses, content creators and customers.

5. Comments Provide Constructive Feedback

Finally, unboxing videos make it easy for your brand to receive constructive feedback without paying for surveys, research studies, or study groups. It’s essentially free information with two different types of feedback coming from an unboxing video:

  • Feedback from the influencer: By analyzing their video, you will better understand their behavior and attitude toward your product. Their facial expressions and the instant words that come from their mouths will tell a lot. Based on their comments, you can experience, examine and enhance your current and future unboxing experiences.
  • Feedback from viewers: The viewers observing the unpacking from the other side of the screen may notice things that you or the influencer won’t. Their positive or negative comments in the comment section are a fountain of knowledge just waiting to be tapped.

Regardless of the reception, any feedback is good feedback. It will help you determine if you’ve done your job correctly.

Strive for an Unforgettable Unboxing Experience

Now that you know the sheer popularity of unboxing videos and how they are a mutually beneficial avenue of growth for business brands and content creators, are you ready to up the WOW factor for your packaging?

Many game enthusiasts are willing to pay a significant amount of money on premium shipping for ease of mind.

It is important that your game box is well designed to ensure that the merchandise will arrive in good condition for your customers.

Coming up with functional, protective, and well-designed packaging for collectibles is always a challenge.

This is the case even for companies that manufacture simple card and board games.

Packaging now plays a big role in the success of a game venture as it is the deciding point for consumers to purchase your game.

We created a list of the most important factors that you need to know and consider:

The Type of Game

You need to plan the packaging of your card or board game according to the size of the cards or boards as well as the number of game pieces that will be placed inside the box.

Standard Paperboard for Card Games

Standard paperboard boxes are ideal for card games without dice or other pieces. There are a lot of paperboard materials available to choose from according to your budget and requirements.

Paperboard boxes are cost-effective, customizable, and can be printed using any technique.

Here is an example that we did for Brink.

Go Premium For Multiple Game Pieces

By choosing premium rigid packaging, you’re sure that the cards are not only well-protected, but the packaging is also visually appealing.

There are many ways to give buyers a fantastic customer experience through product packaging.

Creating striking designs can be achieved by using a mixture of colors, pull-up inserts, and even stickers.

The Structure & Material

Before deciding which structure and material to use for your packaging, conduct research on the box size of other games that are of the same theme as yours.

Retailers love categorizing the games and stacking them together to save space. If the size of your game box differs from other games in the same genre, retailers may place your product on a different shelf.

But, be careful not to try and forcibly fit the game pieces inside a box that’s too small.

Remember, the goal is to make sure that the game pieces are well-protected, and not crammed up.

Also, keep in mind that people who bought the games are going to share them with their friends or take them to other places, so don’t make the game box too big.

Gamers don’t appreciate a huge box containing a few game items and fresh air.

In terms of packaging materials, you can decide whether you want cardboard boxes, plastic, or wood.

Almost all game manufacturers choose cardboard boxes, but some also prefer using plastic so people can use reuse and repurpose the packaging. Wood is also utilized depending on the theme of the game

Designing Game Box Packaging

The design of your packaging should catch the attention of buyers and entice them to read on to know how the game works.

Striking designs with big headlines and witty taglines can influence people and push them to buy the game.

Example of game box packaging design
Source: PakFactory

The front side of the box should contain information about the number of players required, the age range, as well as the manufacturer’s logo.

If all these don’t fit on the front side of the box, you can also place them on the side where people can see them if they are stacked side by side.

Also, don’t forget to add the required legal information and symbols at the back of the box.

You can consult legal professionals if you’re not sure what to include in the game packaging.

Remember, there are regulatory bodies that provide rules that game manufacturers need to comply with.

Those who don’t comply cannot use or add the logos of these regulatory bodies in their packaging.

Depth

You have to carefully plan the depth of the game box and avoid making it too thin or too tall.

If the depth isn’t properly planned, stacking the game will be challenging for retailers, and the game box might fall off the shelves repeatedly.

Inside Box

Some game manufacturers opt to have plain inside boxes for added protection and to provide a better unboxing experience.

Inserts

Cardboard, plastic, or foam inserts can be used to create a partition and to prevent items from moving inside the game box.

By placing inserts, people can also sort out game pieces before storing them. Inserts also ensure game items are protected and won’t bump into each other.

Special Print Ad-Ons

Embellishments can add value and enhance your packaging. You should choose print finishes that complement the overall design of the game box packaging and boost its aesthetic and haptic appeal.

It’s easy to think that you’re going overboard, especially because there are a lot of embellishment options available now.

Keep in mind that a lot of people don’t need to buy the game, so you have to make your packaging convince them to do so.

Here are some print finishes commonly used by game manufacturers:

Spot UV: This finishing technique adds a clear, shiny coating to specific areas of the game box to create an eye-catching contrast.

It also adds a smooth touch to the surface where it was applied, giving the packaging both aesthetic and haptic appeal.

Foil stamping: Foil stamping is a machine-based print finishing technique where a metallic or pigmented foil is applied to the surface using heated dye.

It’s widely used for card games, but game board manufacturers also use this technique because it adds a luxurious effect to the packaging.

Modern coating techniques for game boxes:

There are other modern coating techniques that enhance the look of game boxes. Gloss and matte lamination is also becoming increasingly popular as they have the ability to put emphasis on the colors for better contrast or make them look muted.

Soft touch coating has the ability to add a luxurious, tactile feel to the game box packaging. It is a popular choice for game manufacturers.

Shipping Game Boxes

After the tedious process of designing your game’s packaging, now comes the shipment.

Shipping out your board and card games can be challenging. With the tips provided below, you’ll surely beat the odds of having the merchandise damaged in transit.

Choose the Right Type of Box for Shipment

You need to ensure that you use durable and appropriately-sized boxes. This is crucial, especially when delivering your games in bulk.

example of durable game packaging
Source: PakFactory

Don’t fit too many items in one box and leave at least 1” gap on all corners.

Use Bubble Wrap

The games should be surrounded by compressible and lightweight materials, such as bubble wrap, to protect them.

Cushions can also be added between the game boxes for extra security. This will ensure that the paint materials on the packaging don’t stick to the surface of other game boxes.

Use Shrink Wrap or Plastic Bags to Prevent Water Damage

The weather can be unpredictable.

Using shrink wrap or plastic bags is recommended to package your game box from potential damage.

Put a Fragile Sign on the Box

Doing so will alert shipping personnel and prevent them from manhandling the shipment boxes.

Packaging designs for the card and board games are less complicated in the sense that manufacturers’ main focus is geared toward making people understand how the game works.

But, the proper size and structure of the packaging should also be given the attention they require.

Your packaging may catch the attention of the buyers, but if it does not function correctly or does not protect the game items, then you might get frustrated gamers who won’t think twice about leaving a bad review for your game.

We’re here to help!

As the oppressive summer heat makes way for the crisp temperatures of Fall, children across the country are returning to school, and businesses are jumping into Q4 with gusto, determined to finish off 2020 on a high note! Particularly for companies within the goods or retail industry, this new season’s key priority includes planning for the single most busy time on the retail calendar: Christmas. And while we may still be a few months away from December’s signature snow and merry cheer, now is the time to think about a Christmas-inspired packaging-refresh. Your packaging can help attract your customers and heighten your brand awareness.

In this spirit, we’re here to help with some of our top Christmas packaging trends for 2020, for businesses of all sizes! So, pour yourself a glass of eggnog, and dive right in:

Eco-Friendly Packaging

When it comes to everyone’s favorite festive season, December tends to score low on the sustainability scale. Over the holidays, we tend to over-consume, and sometimes lose sight of the amount of waste this generates. This being said, consumers are becoming more eco-conscious than ever before, and many shoppers will favor brands that opt for sustainable, “green” packaging options.

To be as eco-friendly as possible, think about minimalized designs (avoid over-packaging) and recycled or biodegradable packaging elements. For example, corrugated boxes and kraft packaging’s simplicity and rustic look lend itself well as a canvas for Christmas-inspired design elements. Both options are made predominantly from recycled material and are sturdy enough to be reused again and again, and at the end of their life, can easily be recycled once again!

Bespoke Custom Printing

Spice up your existing packaging for the holidays by designing a custom Christmas design to package your goods. Whether you’re adorning your carrier bags, mailers, or tissue paper, adding an understated design that incorporates your brand can add a special touch to your Christmas packaging. Try adding a festive touch to your logo and printing it onto your packaging, ribbon, or onto customized stickers to seal boxes and pouches. When it comes to custom printing options, the opportunities are endless!

Sprinkle in Some Color Play

While your brand may be loyal to a defined color palette for the rest of the year, the Christmas holiday season is an opportune time for businesses to break away from the usual and play with seasonal colors to dress up their product packaging.

Stick with tradition and inject some red or green into your current packaging design scheme or add some flare with gold or silver accents. Some cost-conscious brands may keep with their existing packaging as a base, but choose to add seasonally colored branded ribbons, stickers, or tissue paper to add a festive touch.

Add a Personal Touch

There is no better time than Christmas to layer on the “warm and fuzzies.” Consider adding a special touch to your shipped products over the holiday season with a personalized greeting card.

Branded enclosure cards can be customized with the customer name or handwritten note (an excellent idea for small businesses to engage with the customer on a personal level), or even left blank, allowing the buyer to personalize it for the gift recipient (a more feasible option for larger businesses). This is an inexpensive but practical way to add a festive touch to your Christmas packaging.

Reusable Packaging

We’re all familiar with the sustainability mantra of Reduce-Reuse-Recycle. Of the three-Rs, the promotion of reusable packaging materials is the most effective way to reduce consumption and keep more out of our waste systems. The use of reusable packaging is both aesthetically pleasing and bodes well with eco-conscious consumers.

The options for reusable packaging or easily repurposed packaging are vast, including leather, wooden, or rigid cardboard boxes, custom printed tote bags, or festive burlap pouches. Customers will be inspired to reuse beautifully designed packaging for Christmases to come, and thus, the spirit of giving continues!

Famous skin-care brand, Lush, is well-known for using reusable metal or hard plastic tins to packaging their products year-round. During the holidays, Lush gift wraps products in colorful patterned knot wraps made from recycled plastic bottles, reused as décor or a fashion accessory.

Engage your Christmas Customers

Don’t forget that your packaging always serves as an opportunity to draw in and engage with your consumer market. Tie in a social media campaign with your seasonal packaging as a way of amplifying your brand awareness during a time of heavy retail competition! Word of mouth is also statistically proven to be highly effective during this time of influencer marketing, so increasing your activity on social media channels will help your business get traction during the holidays.

A great example of this is Starbuck’s #holidaycups campaign, which is has become a highly anticipated tradition among loyal Starbucks sippers who await the release of their annual seasonal cup design.

Working in the hair extension industry for over a decade, Dafina Smith, the founder of Covet and Mane noticed that clients were often disgruntled by the inconsistencies in quality and supply of hand-tied hair extensions.

They decided to change that by collaborating with the industry’s most innovative stylists to create a unique line of hand-tied hair extensions, exceeding others through consistency and quality control giving customers hair they can rely on.

“No matter what level you are in your career, the challenges are all the same – your work is only as good as the hair your work with”

On a mission to overcome the known problems in the hair extension industry, Covet & Mane distinguishes itself through three main features:

  1. Proprietary cut-point wefts to allow stylists to cut and tailor extensions without weft unraveling or shedding
  2. Silicone-free for a more natural look and feel and greater blending
  3. Expertly-sourced hair that is meticulously dyed to get a natural cool, brass-free colors that are fade-resistant

The Challenge

With determination to reach the top of their industry, Dafina knew she needed to provide the absolute best customer service and product quality. This starts from providing customers a tailored unboxing experience that matches the company’s brand, product and message.

High quality products need to remain high quality, even through shipping and handling. Because they anticipated shipping higher quantities, they knew they needed something sustainable, cost-effective and durable.

With many different packaging types to choose from, Dafina ventured onto PakFactory.com, found and submitted a request for a quote for the most popular printed corrugated mailer, which is an excellent option for keeping products safe, while made from a high percentage of post-consumer content.

The Solution

Getting in touch with Karen Tam, a Senior Packaging Specialist at PakFactory, Dafina was able to quickly get project quoted and get dielines made for her packaging. The prototyping stage began thereafter previewing her printed box in 3D and receiving her physical prototypes in the mail.

With two-sided printing, Covet and Mane is print their logo in a minimal fashion while declaring their statement to all of their customers:

“A stylist is only as good as the hair they work with & our hair is only as good as the stylist who works with it.”

After receiving the physical prototype, they ordered their first packaging order of 1,500 boxes, the first of many orders as Covet and Mane grows its business through quality, consistent products and a great customer experience.

With a mission to redefine the standards of CBD wellness and health products, Sensitiva is a fast-growing Toronto-based company committed to helping customers find increased satisfaction and fulfillment in modern living.

The benefits of CBD are becoming more understood and accessible in many countries across the world. Started by a group of dedicated individuals Sensitiva has developed premium CBD products to offer solutions for several specific wellness concerns for physical, mental, and emotional dimensions.

CBD can also be helpful with pets experiencing behavioral issues and those experiencing pain. With this in mind, Sensitiva is releasing a new line of canine CBD wellness products called Bobby’s Blend and wanted a unique packaging design that’s convenient to assemble, while attractive and unique.

The Challenge

Sensitiva had 9 products with different measurements with 18 unique labels that needed to be created at smaller run quantities to start. “With so many product sizes, all the vendors contacted were unwilling to create and provide dielines at the appropriate sizes or any real support without commitment to an order,” says Jennifer Dickson, Co-Founder and President of Sensitiva.

Having reached out to multiple vendors requiring high-order quantities per product line, the project seemed unfeasible until they got in touch with PakFactory. Sensitiva was looking for a minimalistic, chic, and clean looking sustainable packaging type that would be able to impress customers, while friendly to the environment.

On-top of this, Sensitiva was looking for a long-term partnership with a company that is able to help them with packaging engineering, prototyping and the ability to produce smaller-run orders at affordable prices to test their products on the market with a lower risk.

The Solution

Working with Karen Tam, a Senior Product Specialist from PakFactory, Sensitiva was able to get their project quoted on time and on budget, all while increasing the total packaging quantity supplied by 2.5x what was originally needed.

Requiring 18 different artwork lines on their 9 product sizes, Karen was quickly able to determine that folding carton boxes with anti-scratch matte finish would be the best option to meet their sustainability and product needs. With folding carton, multiple artwork styles could be printed together in a single production run to reduce production costs, keeping the project affordable.

Without delay, Sensitiva sent their nine products to PakFactory’s labs to be precisely measured and weighed by packaging engineers and designers to create dielines and determine the appropriate material weights for the folding carton boxes. Within a few days, Sensitiva received all of the dielines for their designers to get working on.

After the artwork was completed by their designers, it was checked by PakFactory’s proofing team, which noticed part of the design interfering with a fold line. Sensitiva’s design team quickly corrected this error, sending it back to get new artwork proof before the project went to mass production.

The Result

We’ll let you be the judge of the final design, structure and presentation of Sensitiva’s new Bobby’s Blend product line. We think the design looks high-end, modern and minimalistic, fitting Sensitiva’s product quality and vision and hope their products can make their way to pet’s coping with pain and behavioral problems.

With PakFactory’s unparalleled packaging support, project strategy and production capabilities, Sensitiva now has a new packaging partner it can turn to projects of all packaging types and sizes.

Budy Farms CBD is a cannabis company offering products containing natural terpenes to provide customers with unique experiences through a combination of aromatic oils that can affect how things smell and taste, similar to what is found in essential oils.

Terpenes, also known as terpenoids or terps for short, are hydrocarbons compounds found in cannabis, working alone or together with other terpenes or cannabinoids to provide therapeutic effects, but its potential still remains largely untapped. “We have barely begun to understand the therapeutic potential of cannabis”, says Ethan Russo, a neurologist and Director of R&D at the International Cannabis and Cannabinoids Institute in the Czech Republic.

Heath Hillman, the Founder of Budy Farms CBD hopes to make natural terpenes available for customers to experience the positive effects of his CBD with specifically blended terpene profiles offering 4 main product lines granting effects of; Relief, Energy, Dream, and Calm.

The Challenge

Heath searched for an affordable packaging manufacturer with the ability to mimic the metallic printing technique found on his product labels, having created the labels for his bottle droppers from a local manufacturer.

While the effect of his labels was distinct and attractive, the manufacturing process was extensive and complicated, requiring multiple runs, resulting in higher manufacturing and labor costs from his local manufacturer.

Other vendors he approached locally were not able to replicate this in the paperboard box packaging he was looking to have made to carry his dropper-bottles due to high-quantity requirements or extremely high prices, neither of which fit within his project budgets. Heath was at a loss about how to get the packaging he needed without breaking the bank.

Source: PakFactory

The Solution

Moments after finding PakFactory online, Heath quickly recognized that metallic paper stock and foil-stamping are available options for his projects. Working with Anthony De Juan, he was able to quickly get the required project quoted and even get a printed prototype started only 3 days later. Within a few weeks, Heath was able to start seeing his project come to life, with the confidence he needed to move forward to a product run.

Production of Heath’s paperboard packaging uses a technique that involves multiple production runs. First flood coloring was done on the metallic paper stock, followed by printing the artwork onto the newly colored metallic silver stock. After this was completed, a matte coating layer was added to seal the printing, followed by applying spot UV (a spot gloss) to specific areas to add shiny accents into the artwork. With 8 product SKUs, and the help of Anthony’s project management, production was strategically completed on time and on budget with the result being simply stunning.

Source: PakFactory

The Final Product

Budy Farm CBD was able to intelligently and creatively utilize additional processes to create a distinct, eye-popping look that is instantly recognizable, standing out from its competitors. You can almost feel the natural terpenes reaching out to you by simply glancing at their product packaging. Job well done if we should say so ourselves.

Partnering with PakFactory, they are now able to get more affordable packaging, labels, and everything else they need to get their products packaged — affordably.

The novel coronavirus also known as COVID-19 is now a pandemic, affecting millions of lives and businesses around the world. Our hearts go out to everyone whose families have been affected.

We are closely monitoring the situation and encourage everyone’s support to flatten the curve by staying at home and practicing social distancing. To support this cause, our sales, support and development staff are working from home, so please pardon any interruptions from sounds of crying children, dogs barking or piano rehearsals in the background during meetings or phone calls.

Many of our customers have reached out asking about how this affects our current production capacity and operation, expressing concern and urgency towards their packaging projects.

PakFactory is fully operational

Our production and manufacturing operations are not affected by the pandemic and are continuing to operate as normal. Backed by our global packaging network, we remain vigilant in reliably providing our customers with quality packaging at competitive prices, with greater precautions in place to keep our employees, our partners and our facilities safe and healthy.

Deliveries may experience some delays

We are working diligently with our freight partners to maintain reliable delivery services for our customers; however, the outbreak is reducing global capacity for logistics causing delays and increasing surcharges where applicable. Ask your Product Specialist for up-to-date information regarding your deliveries, shipping quotes and alternatives to meet your project goals.

♦♦♦ Currently, we are expecting a 2-3 day delay for most deliveries. ♦♦♦

We understand the importance of packaging to our customers

We are closely monitoring the development of the outbreak and how it affects us, our industry and our customers. Our team will be providing frequent updates so you can better manage your business, timelines and packaging needs. Bookmark this page and check back regularly for the latest updates.

Reduce the effects of COVID-19 on your packaging project

Our experts share some tips that have helped our customers complete their packaging projects despite the recent setbacks.

Plan ahead and order more, earlier for better prices

Material prices are rising from the impacts of COVID-19 from reduced supply in labor and transportation, which can also lead to shortages and delays. Ordering a larger production run ahead will ensure your products have the packaging it needs to continue selling, at the best prices to meet your business goals.

Move all of your business and marketing online — at least for now

Online sales have seen a surge with shoppers moving all of their purchasing to e-commerce. Sell your products online through popular platforms such as Amazon, eBay, Etsy, or take this time to develop your own online store.

Social media has also seen a major surge of consumption from users spending much more time at home. Take the opportunity to market to these people through social media marketing to get your brand and products recognized.

Get in touch with your Product Specialist

We understand that your plans have been disrupted by the outbreak, so we are being updated daily with supply-chain solutions from our business partners. Our Product Specialists will work with you to create custom solutions that will help you conquer your business and packaging objectives.

We are in this together

Our success is contingent on our customers’ success and we understand the importance of packaging to our customers’ survival.

It is important to remember that health and safety remains the highest priority in getting through this outbreak. No project or business is more important than the lives at stake.

For updates regarding the novel coronavirus, you can follow updates from the World Health Organization and Worldometer.

You can also donate to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund to join the fight against COVID-19.

Stay strong and safe. Let us work together to get through this challenge.

BEDA Beads’ goal is to help their customers find their inner potential and ability to create. Through their e-commerce platform, BEDA Beads specializes in inspirational gemstone beaded bracelets.

Their vision is to equip creators with the necessary reminders to create something more meaningful, to impact society positively.

BEDA Beads hopes to help the customer find their dreams, goals, and aspirations that have fallen victim to the “cannot’s” of the world. They challenge all creators to begin each day aware that they are in control of their vision.

The Challenge

It was difficult for BEDA Beads to find a company that could give them a unique packaging, something that was completely different from the usual jewelry pouches.

They were looking for a simple structure, something intriguing and easy to open. The design would emphasize the brand message and enhance the experience of the customer after revealing their beaded product inside. It would have to be a box that the customer cannot throw out.

PakFactory was very descriptive and detailed throughout the entire process. Communication was exceptional, we were able to get all the information we needed when we needed it.

The Solution

The final solution was everything that BEDA Beads had asked. It was a rigid style one-piece structure box with a magnetic closure and a beautifully designed exterior face. It featured the signature BEDA Beads circular pattern, finished with a Spot UV coating, creating a glossy three-dimensional impression on the pattern as well as the logo.

Once you unlatch the magnetic closure to reveal the BEDA Beads bracelet resting on the custom foam insert, the customer will see BEDA Beads’ message on the interior face of the lid: “begin each day aware.”

Our experience with Anthony was great and he was very patient with us and diligent in trying to understand our ideas and how we could bring them to life.

The Result

Currently entering the market, BEDA Beads has a unique packaging that has become one of its standout components for their business.

It’s literally been a talking point for everyone who’s come across it, I mean people just seem to fall in love with it the moment they see it.

Avec La Vie is a synergistic venture of creativity and inspirational musings that combines over ten years of healthcare experience with nearly twenty years of art direction and design. After working as a registered nurse, Rebecca Lefebvre, the CEO and Founder of Avec La Vie, decided it was time to design something meaningful and inspirational.

She wanted to offer a simple way for individuals to find their truth, nourish their hearts, and love themselves. Over the years, many of her patients confessed that they found nature to be soothing. As a way to deinstitutionalize healing, and a neutral platform to share the lessons Rebecca had learned, she decided to create a deck of inspirational cards using animals as metaphors to explore the many complicated facets of one’s humanness.

The Challenge

After approximately four years of previous sales, Rebecca decided to invest in redesigning her Fauna Inspiration deck. She began the process of developing a custom box that would be convenient to display, travel, and store.

Based on customer feedback, prior packaging did not add value to the overall experience and was limiting broader expansion into the retail and wholesale markets.

Working with PakFactory was simple, seamless, and professional.

rebecca lefebvre, ceo and founder

The Solution

With the combined efforts and Rebecca’s prior experience as an Art Director for a creative agency, it was not difficult to find a solution. Rebecca knew that the structure of the boxes needed to be sturdy, and the design should not take away from the overall experience of the cards.

The resulting design was a two-piece rigid type box that relied on the precise fit of the lid and base to work; the cards would slide perfectly into the box. The box also featured beautiful artwork done by Rebecca, reflecting the same aesthetic and style drawn on each of her cards.

During the process, receiving the prototype made all the difference. It was essential the top and bottom of the box fit snuggly and the deck fit inside perfectly.

The Results

Now in the market, both customers and retailers are offering organic, positive feedback. Orders have doubled, and the overall response to the new product has been resoundingly positive.

From the initial contact to receipt of the first shipment of boxes, every step was thorough and well managed. Working with Kristen, Rebecca was able to achieve the perfect box for the newly designed deck.

Now eight years strong operating from an independent location just outside of Seattle, Washington, Anfield Shop has become the local favorite store of all things Liverpool FC.

Thanks to their licensing agreement with the club, it allows them to produce official LFC products, custom items, and apparel. Their mission is to be the go-to source for Liverpool FC memorabilia and items for fans all over North America.

They are as passionate about giving back to the community as they are excited about the club and the sport. Being die-hard Liverpool FC fans, they support several foundations such as the Jamie Carragher’s 23 Foundation, Steven Gerrard Foundation, and the LFC Foundation.

We’ve seen so much change with subscription boxes as the genre has developed over the years.

alisha weiss, ceo

The Challenge

Over the years, the ideas and execution of Anfield Shop’s subscription box had grown and developed in scope. They faced the challenge of providing value to fans on a limited budget. Anfield Shop wanted to maintain the value that fans received from the exclusive and custom limited-edition merchandise, making for a tight budget when it came to developing the packaging.

However, Anfield Shop wanted something to contribute towards the overall user experience and not only contain the merchandise. The box itself needed to help deliver a story of the items it contained within.

We found out from customers’ feedback that people were holding onto the boxes and sharing their unboxing experience on social media, and overall enhancing our brand engagement even more!

alisha weiss, ceo

The Solution

The original box had a roll end tuck top structure, which had a high probability of compromising the interior integrity during delivery. With the help of Kristen, one of PakFactory’s Packaging Specialists, Anfield Shop was able to improve on their pre-existing subscription box. The solution from our specialist was to use a Tab Lock Roll End design, which provided a more protected package during shipping.

Anfield Shop also changes their box designs frequently to maintain customer engagement. Still, with PakFactory’s resources and printing capabilities, we were able to consistently deliver different box designs with low turnaround time while maintaining a high-quality.

The Results

The Anfield Box continues to be an on-going project at PakFactory, continually discovering new ways to add value to the box. The subscription box is on its 8th release, and it has continued to be tweaked and improved each time.

Anfield Shop has been receiving fantastic feedback from customers and quickly realized that customers were holding onto the boxes as well. The box became a canvas to tell the story of its release.

Working with PakFactory is great because, in addition to the sort of traditional packaging you’d expect with a subscription box, PakFactory has so much experience in all types of packaging, which meant that we were not limited to anything.
